It is truly more fun in the Philippines—at least, based on the tweets of local celebrities on the recently launched Department of Tourism (DOT) slogan.
Anne Curtis, Bianca Gonzales, and Luis Manzano gave reasons why they believe the said slogan is true.
“Through hardships and heartaches a filipino will always give you a sincere smile #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines ♥” Anne said to her more than two million followers on Twitter.
She added, “#ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines because us pinoys all love to sing! Marunong man o hindi, sige lang! Kanta lang! Videoke! Karaoke! Gooooooo!” perhaps referencing her newfound career as a recording artst (Anne received the platinum record award for her debut album, “Annebisiyosa”).
Meanwhile Erwan Heussaff, Anne’s boyfriend, tweeted: “Asia without the language barrier. #itsmorefuninthephilippines”
He also said the Philippines is the “Culture-wise, South America of Asia” and is “Asia, without the uptightness and shyness.”
“I like it, simply because it’s true!” tweeted Bianca Gonzales.
“The new tourism campaign just made pinoys living abroad miss the Philippines even more. Because it’s more fun in the Philippines!” she also said.
Luis Manzano's posted, “where people love singing foreign songs they barely understand #itsmorefuninthephlippines”
US-based Giselle Toengi tweeted: “#ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines coz I'm half Filipino & half Swiss yet I can attest : It is the PINAY in me that knows how to have a good time!”
Meanwhile, Kapuso actress Chynna Ortaleza said, “It's hot here! :) from people, climate, tourist destinations and food! Plus Pinoys are super hospitable! #itsmorefuninthephilippines”
“We may not be as rich, modern, orderly, efficient as other nations but #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines and #ItsmorefunwithFilipinos” tweeted singer-songwriter Jim Paredes.
Even Neil Gaiman, international author of best-selling books such as “American Gods” and “The Graveyard Book,” commented on the slogan’s accuracy.
“#itsmorefuninthephilippines hashtag is a true one. They applaud loudly and hug you a lot,” he said on his Twitter account.
American author Rafe Bartholomew, who wrote a book about Philippine basketball titled “Pacific Rims: Beermen Ballin' in Flip-Flops and the Philippines' Unlikely Love Affair with Basketball,” joined the fun. “Videoke sa kanto #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines” he tweeted.
The hashtag “ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines” became a worldwide trending topic on Twitter and is, as of this writing, still the top trending topic in the Philippines.
