'Enteng ng Ina Mo' pulls away with P183-mil gross

2011 MMFF gross earnings up by 19 % compared to 2010

The gross earnings of the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) from Dec. 25. 2011 to Jan. 1, 2012 has surpassed that of 2010 by as much as 19 percent.

Star Cinema and M-Zet Films’s “Enteng Ng Ina Mo,” which stars Vic Sotto and Ai Ai delas Alas, is the runaway box-office champion, grossing over P183 million in eight days of showing. It almost doubled the entire eight-day gross of the second-placer, Star Cinema and MJM Films’s “Segunda Mano,” which features Kris Aquino and MMFF Best Actor Dingdong Dantes.

Yahoo! Philippines OMG! learned this from the MMFF Playdate and Sales Monitoring Committee, which released the following box-office rankings per official entry:

Ang Panday 2 - PHP 86,316,624.55
My Househusband...Ikaw Na! - PHP 42,587,787.58
Shake, Rattle and Roll XIII - PHP 41,935,473.35
Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story - PHP 21,781,973.55
Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow - PHP 7,359,070.85
TOTAL - PHP 477,824,459.68

The MMFF is ongoing up to Jan. 7.
