‘Asiong Salonga’ sweeps 60th FAMAS Awards

“Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story” emerged as the big winner during this year’s Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards, held at the Manila Hotel in Manila City on Tuesday, September 25.

The film won seven awards, including best picture. Laguna governor Jeorge “ER” Ejercito won best actor for his role as Asiong Salonga in “Manila Kingpin.”

Kapamilya actresses Anne Curtis and Angelica Panganiban also received acting honors from the award-giving body. Anne was named best actress for her role in “No Other Woman” while Angelica got the best support actress award for “Segunda Mano.”

Meanwhile, the academy honored the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo and his exemplary life of service with the Posthumous Award.
