Ogie and Regine with the 'Party Pilipinas' gang (Voltaire Domingo, NPPA Images)GMA-7's Sunday noontime variety show "Party Pilipinas" celebrated its first anniversary on March 27, in a big way. Dubbed "Party Buong Pilipinas," Kapuso stars entertained crowds live in the GMA studio, Baguio, Cebu and Davao through the wonders of satellite technology. Not to be outdone, ABS-CBN aired its Sunday lunchtime program from the Queen City of the South calling it "ASAP Rocks Cebu."
In terms of live audiences, "PBP" had the edge, of course. What matters more to the networks, however, is how many watched at home. I don't have those figures. The "ASAP" oceanside crowd looked more impressive than "PBP's" audience at Fuente Osmena. In terms of star power, "ASAP" might have a slight edge with Jericho Rosales, Sarah Geronimo, Gerald Anderson, Martin Nievera, Gary V and Zsa Zsa Padilla as against "PBP's" Ogle Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Richard Gutierrez, Heart Evangelista and Marian Rivera.
