Will Nora Aunor resort to stem cell therapy?

Former president Joseph "Erap" Estrada has experienced it. So have Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, Lorna Tolentino, Boy Abunda, Lolit Solis, Ricky Reyes, Alma Moreno and Liezel Martinez.

So would Nora Aunor join the bandwagon and undergo the same life-changing procedure herself? After all, she herself admitted that she doesn't want her grandchildren, starting with the eldest, Janine Gutierrez, to call her "lola".

The Superstar hemmed and hawed when cornered with this question at PLDT's Gabay Guro event last Sunday, Oct. 28 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

"Magandang ma-maintain pa rin," she replied. "Kailangan hindi naman sobra, yung tamang tama lang. Darating yon siguro. Mangyayari din yon sa akin."

When that big day comes, Nora doesn't see herself getting the procedure in the Philippines, but abroad, where she hints one such offer exists. The Superstar still has her connections in place.

For now, she's happy looking younger than her years in the TV fantasy series "Enchanted Garden."

Besides, her roles — that of an infertile Badjao wife in the Metro Filmfest entry "Thy Womb" and Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo's wife in "El Presidente," doesn't require her to look younger than her age. So no problem there.

Speaking of the Metro Filmfest, Nora already informed "El Presidente" leading man and producer E.R. Ejercito that she chose to ride the float of "Thy Womb" instead.

Nora made the right choice. The story of "Thy Womb" revolves around her character while her portrayal in "El Presidente" falls under the "guest role" category.

The Superstar is bent on making a difference again next year through films na "ikasisigla ng industrya," like a Vilma Santos-Coco Martin project Nora hopes to star in, courtesy of the award-winning "Thy Womb" director Brillante "Dante" Mendoza.

For the love of teachers

Her other wish involves teachers, unsung heroes in their own right.

At PLDT's Gabay Guro event last Sunday, Oct. 28 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, Nora showed her concern for teachers, "Nabalitaan ko na may problema ang salary nila. Sana maayos na ito. Malaki ang paghihirap at sakripisyo na ginagawa nila para a mga estudyante. Dapat mahalin sila."

If Nora talks this way about teachers, it's because she wanted to be one herself.

"Sa kahirapan namin at sa kagustuhan kong magkaroon ng trabaho, ang pagiging teacher ang naisipan ko. Yon ang pangarap ko nung bata pa ako."

Nora wasn't alone. Cesar Montano, Robin Padilla, Gary Valenciano, Aga Muhlach, Derek Ramsay and Wally and Jose helped PLDT boss Manny V. Pangilinan honor the teachers through a grand raffle which made Grade 2 teacher Sarah Jane Gabat an instant owner of a house and lot.

A TV set and freebies from sponsors also gladdened the teachers' hearts.

Nora --- and fellow celebrities who came to honor the teachers all over the country that night -- whole-heartedly approved.
