Marc never thought his polite, demure gym body Kat can show her fangs when the going gets tough. By her own admission, Kat is bossy and domineering. Now, Marc thinks she is the queen of everything bossy and domineering.
LJ Moreno (remember her?) knows bosom friend CJ is a perennial latecomer, the type who has to be told to come in at 5 p.m. if you want her to show up at 7 p.m. But she got the surprise of her life when CJ appeared on the dot for meet-ups and the like.
The reason: TV5's "The Amazing Race Philippines," where they bested eight pairs and emerged the final three teams. Their common goal: beat the other two teams and bring home the P2-M cash prize on Saturday, Dec. 15, the moment of truth.
Six weeks, 12 grueling legs
It's been six weeks and 12 grueling legs of outwitting and outracing each other — in Manila, Ilocos, Moutain Province, Baguio, Subic, Albay, Cebu, Boracay, . Sabang Island, Puerto Princesa and Davao.
LJ missed her hunky husband. Single mom CJ just thought of the child she left behind and whose future she has to ensure. Kat looked forward to her bragging rights about the race. Marc thought a condo unit is not a bad idea should he get his P1-M share for winning the race.
And except for LJ and CJ, who have had showbiz exposures, it would be nice for all of them to continue hogging the spotlight even after the race.
Fausto wants to continue being a celebrity driver. Marc and Kat would give their right arm for a fitness show. Dayal would jump for joy if he gets even more go-sees as a model.
Only one team will win. But as it is, all final three teams feel they're leaving the race better persons and closer friends. They've seen the best and the worst of each other, and still managed to stick it out till the final leg.
They've prayed for safety and victory together. They've learned to accept each other's moods and quirks, even through gritted teeth. That, in itself is victory like no other.
So here's to LJ & CJ, Marc & Kat and Fausto & Dayal. Now that you've been through the worst, it's time to exercise those bragging rights you've been raring to show. You've earned it. Now take a bow!
