It’s no joke

I am writing my very first blog for Yahoo! OMG! Philippines. I am so excited to share my thoughts to all Yahoo! users visiting this premier local entertainment site.

To those who don't know me, I am Marie Pauleen J. Luna. In showbiz, I am known as Pauleen Luna or Poleng, an actress and host. I am 22 years old, born in 1988. I'm a Manileña. I have two brothers.

Since I was a kid, I always wanted to enter showbiz. Then, nine years ago, it came true. I worked for Star Magic and ABS-CBN for a time before joining the longest running television show in the world. YES, IN THE WORLD. "EAT BULAGA. " And this particular job I continue to love and cherish up to this day.

Some people say anyone can work as an actress or a TV host. Just look good on the camera and you're set to succeed in this business. Well, the truth is, it's no joke. There's more to being in showbiz than just style and glamour.

I really thought working in showbiz is easy. One could have that misconception that looking beautiful is all it takes to make it big. Although you really have to look good, there are other things to consider, like sacrificing privacy, time, and sometimes, even education. And, moreso, hosting a noontime show makes it even more challenging, spending 24 hours a day just to make the show perfect in the eyes of the televiewers. It is physically, emotionally and mentally draining. And that even does not include the intrigues and rumors we have to face.

Rumors spread easily like a disease. And there's no way you can stop it. It's just sad when people say nasty things about you; lies from people who don't even know you. But my rule of thumb is always be honest.. You can never go wrong with that. People may judge you with your transparency but at least when you tell the truth, you give yourself a chance to free yourself from all the grudges and personal burdens.

However, not everything about my job is hard. Actually, the good stuff makes up for the bad. You want to know the best part of my job? It's the rewards of being a co-host of "Eat Bulaga."

In "Eat Bulaga," I work with biggest yet most humble, intelligent, loving and generous artists I could ever know. There, it's like I'm a part of a huge loving family. No issues. It's just all laughter. I feel very lucky to be a part of this group because no matter what other people say, I've already found my family and my treasure in the business.

When we do the daily show, we see people from different walks of life. As I meet them, I get mixed emotions. Most of the time, I feel for them when they're going through terrible crises in their lives but when "Eat Bulaga" goes on air, I feel very overwhelmed to see the joy in their faces. And, yes, "Eat Bulaga" has changed so many lives. And knowing that these people see hope in our show, the feeling is just priceless.

In our show, I've also found my true friends, with whom I share the best of times even after the show.

With all the blessings that has come my way, I only have One to thank—our Lord and Savior, Jesus. HE has been so generous to me ever since. All his blessings and trials just made me stronger, wiser.

I also thank my family and friends who keep me sane. And my fans, from whom I get my strength in facing all the challenges and trials that go with my work, I am very, very grateful.
