Anne Curtis faces crisis with slapping incident in club

She might be facing her worst crisis in her otherwise immensely successful showbiz career.

A terrible public relations disaster that could potentially affect her phenomenal career, if not possibly end it.

But, Anne Curtis seemed unfazed in responding to a report on the Philippine Entertainment Portal that shocked everyone who knew her, even this blogger. Yet you could feel the remorse in her apology. And, in my view, it was brave of Anne to address the issue on Twitter, to her nearly six million followers, instead of keeping quiet and making matters worse by letting people speculate.

Anne goes ballistic

That incident at Privé Luxury Club in the early morning of Saturday, November 23 is now the talk of the town, understandably because the people involved in the incident are A-list artistas and prominent personalities.

While slapping is a common device used in movies, used to humiliate characters in dramatic fashion, delivering a whack to the face in a public place is definitely uncommon, especially in an exclusive bar such as Privé in The Fort Strip in Bonifacio Global City.

But it happened. Anne admitted in her series of tweets that "most of it is true," referring to the PEP report that alleged she slapped John Lloyd Cruz, magazine publisher JR Isaac, and the latter’s friend Leah de Guzman.

Calls John Lloyd an ‘addict’

She also did not deny hollering at John Lloyd, saying that he was an “addict,” or that she pointed her finger at TV host and model Phoemela Barranda, who was with John Lloyd’s party, while screaming, “I can buy you, your friends, and this club!”

One of Privé’s owners, actor and host JM Rodriguez, was also on the receiving end of Anne’s wrath when he was told he had “the worst club to have a party.”

The details of this incident first came from JR Isaac, who was interviewed by PEP in the report published early Sunday evening.

Escorted out of club

He added they didn’t leave the club despite Anne’s seemingly drunken fit and it was Anne who was escorted out of the club at around past 2 am.

JR, however, stressed that Anne texted him hours after the incident, apologizing for her behavior. He said he accepted her apology.

Immediately after PEP published its report, Anne took to Twitter to release her “official statement” on the incident and noted this will be the only time she will talk about it and won’t entertain interviews about the issue.

Anne's full apology

Here’s what she said verbatim on her Twitter account at around 10pm Sunday, December 1:

“Hey everyone. I will be making my official statement now & after this, I will not be giving any interviews about this issue anymore. I choose to do this right away because I've always been an open book & I don't like to hide anything...

“For those who have read about the issue, yes, most of it is true. I admit to that & I have apologized to all parties included immediately... When I was told of my behavior AND the person who started all of this, due to this persons inappropriate behavior, apologized to me too... Just as I did. Which I accepted too. I choose not to go into detail because I'm not the type to ruin someone else's name...

“Now.. I had been on the super popular juice cleanse for 3 days & attended my best friends bachelorette that night, had one too many drinks.. which led to some of these unfortunate events. That's why they say 'Drink in moderation'. I will charge it to experience & a lesson learned.

“I'm sorry if I let any of my fans down.... As you all see, I'm just like any other person that makes mistakes in life... Thank you to everyone that has messaged me about their support. With where I am today I owe all of you my honesty. Good night.”
