Tear-jerking K-Pop music videos
The K-Pop music industry has earned international recognition for mastering the art of creating music videos (MV). One cannot deny the power of a beautifully shot music video in promoting and eventually selling songs. Even if we deny it, there were many times we bought an album (or a track) because we loved the MV so much. The MV is, without doubt, a precipitating factor in ensuring the success of a song.
K-Pop music videos range from high-energy dance tracks to "cuteness overload" featuring the main stars. However, once in a while, a dramatic music video is released which serves to squeeze our eyes out of our precious tears. Here are some of the most tear-jerking K-Pop videos released recently. "I Told You I Wanna Die" by Huh Gak (featuring B2ST's Jun Hyung)
This drama-like MV presents the continuation of a romantic storyline from Huh Gak's previous single "Hello." (Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Dy4pcTBaOs). The MV stars B2ST's Jun Hyung, actor Lee Hyun Jin and actress Kang Sora in a tragic love story involving a man, a woman and a loyal friend. I don't want to spoil the ending so just experience it for yourself. The MV beautifully highlights the haunting vocals of "Superstar K" (Korea's American Idol) winner Huh Gak.
"In Heaven" by JYJ
JYJ's latest release "In Heaven" tells the fateful love story of a doomed couple who got their second chance. In the MV, JYJ member Junsu acts along with labelmate Song Ji Hyo. Like a drama, the story is presented with foreshadows and flashbacks which keeps the viewer hooked until the end. Take note of JYJ's Jaejoong's emotional interpretation of the song specially towards the bridge. You cannot help but be moved by the song and the MV.
"You Don't Answer My Calls" by 2AM
2AM, a K-Pop idol group know for their smooth ballads, released "You Don't Answer My Calls" in 2010. This is by far one of the most emotionally charged music videos of that year. This MV features the acting talents of 2AM member Seulong ("Personal Preference") who really did not contain himself as he cried buckets for his partner. "I'm Sorry" by Gummy (featuring Big Bang's T.O.P. and 2NE1's Sandara Park)
"I'm Sorry" was a release from YG talent Gummy back in 2008 as part of her album "Comfort". The song is a fast track but the MV features a dramatic plot acted out by then newbies T.O.P (Big Bang) and Sandara Park (2NE1). In the MV, T.O.P. plays a bad boy character to Sandara Park's sweet pious girl. Fans of T.O.P. and Sandara will enjoy revisiting their idols' work from the past through this video.
