Rapper Crown-J charged for drug possession and use

Korean hip-hop artist and rapper Kim Gye-hoon, more popularly known by stage name Crown J, has been charged for the possession and use of marijuana.

The rapper, who, prior to his being charged for drug possession, was working on an album in the United States, when he was accused by the Narcotics Investigation Department of Seoul Police of "purchasing the marijuana locally and smoking the drug several times."

According to the police, the Korean hip-hop artist has had a history of purchasing marijuana from sources in Atlanta, Georgia; his use of it is apparently common practice. In South Korea, the possession and use of marijuana is a serious offense punishable by jail time and stiff penalties.

Fly Boy Entertainment, Crown J's management agency, released a statement on its artist's legal woes: "We're disappointed that this disgraceful incident had to occur right before his advancement into America. We were very excited to release Crown J's album, for which he worked alongside with international famous rappers such as T.I."

Crown J has three albums to his credit: "One and Only" (2006), "Miss Me?" (2007), and "Fly Boy" (2009). His singles include "V.I.P." (2007), "I Will Take Her Away" (2007), "Too Much", and "I'm Good" (2009), in which he collaborated with American rapper Young Dro.
