Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung injured, withdraws from promotions

Choi Sooyoung, one of the resident rappers of Hallyu stars Girls' Generation, was injured in a car accident on August 28, fracturing her sacral vertebrae and forcing her to withdraw from Girls' Generation's current promotions, which include the "SM TOWN LIVE in Tokyo" concert in Japan and another concert in Taiwan.

According to a statement from SM Entertainment, Girls' Generation's management label, Sooyoung was on her way to Chunan from Seoul last August 28 when a car headed in the opposite direction crashed into the car she was riding. The Korean singer, who is also known amongst SONES - as Girls Generation's fans are known - as the tallest in the group and renowned for her "legs without end," was on her way to her volunteer work for the visually impaired. Representatives said doctors were optimistic about Sooyoung's chances of a speedy recovery, with plenty of rest and treatment.

Within minutes of word getting out that Sooyoung was injured, Twitter came alive, with hashtag #GETWELLSOOYOUNG trending at #2 on Twitter Philippines. Get well soon, Sooyoung!
