YG Family Twitter post confirms, BIGBANG concert in Manila (screengrab)BIGBANG Facebook confirmationFilipino VIPs, the name of BIGBANG fans, are going crazy over this confirmation as the reality of experiencing a BIGBANG concert in their native land dawns upon them.

BIGBANG is the quintessential Korean idol considered one of the top-tier artists of the K-Pop genre. As I have discussed in my article 'Why is Big Bang so Big?,"  the group composed of G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P., Seungri, and Daesung has achieved tremendous accolades throughout their career.

BIGBANG is the first Korean artist to reach the top ten on the world's iTunes chart. Their latest mini album "Alive" debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at #150 solely based on sales and with no actual promotions in the United States. BIGBANG's worldwide

    • BIGBANG shake app (Publicity shot available through dooub, the developer and Apple store)A series of iPad/iPod/iPhone games called Shake has taken the K-Pop fandom by storm. Starting with the release of the award winning Super Junior Shake in October 2011, the series of finger-tapping Shake games won the hearts of K-Pop lovers and gamers alike. You can check out the list of Shake games featuring K-Pop artists in this Yahoo! Philippines OMG! ok Pop! post entitled "K-Pop Meets iPad."

On May 9, Big Bang Shake,  the most awaited version of the Shake games, was launched.

Big Bang, considered one of the top (if not the top) K-Pop artists today, offers unique electro-hip hop inspired music that has influenced a musical revolution worldwide. Their last mini album, "Alive," featured the crossover hits "Blue," "Fantastic Baby" and "Bad Boy." The release of "Alive" not only strengthened Big Bang's fan following but won them new admirers as well.

The game named after the K-Pop group offers a new way for VIPs (Big Bang fans) to enjoy the artists' music.  Like other Shake games, Big

    • Taetiseo (Publicity photo)Girls' Generation sub-unit Taetiseo composed of members Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun, recently sold 3,000 copies of its debut mini-album, "Twinkle," on iTunes. This sales figure was high enough to land the trio at 126 on the Billboard 200 chart, the highest-ever debut for a Korean act to date.

"Twinkle" also debuts at No. 1 on Billboard's World Albums chart, as well as No. 2 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart, held back from the top spot by Australian vocal group Human Nature.

Girls' Generation fans will no doubt be thrilled by this news, given the rather lackluster sales of the group's first U.S.-released album,  The Boys." It failed to dent the Billboard 200 chart, missing out by a thousand copies from landing on the list during its first week of release.

      Digital strategy to boost sales

In contrast, the impressive sales performance of Taetiseo, listed on Billboard as "Girls' Generation — TTS," was fueled by an interesting digital strategy. If fans bought "Twinkle" in its

    • Jay Park (Mike Alquinto/NPPA Images)Over the weekend, Korean singer Jay Park was in the Philippines to promote his first full-length album titled "New Breed."

Every Jay Park fan, officially called The Jaywalkers, know that the popular singer has visited the country twice before and in this visit, Jay Park continues his love affair with the country through a series of intimate fan gatherings and performances.

To make this Yahoo! Philippines OMG! ok Pop interview more interesting, I asked fans to send in their questions for the singer through my official Twitter and Facebook accounts. Indeed, the questions proved to be most interesting and creative!

Jay Park, who turned out to be a pleasure to interview, answered the questions on Saturday, May 5. He was open, laid-back and even offered us some pizza!

Belated happy birthday! Your birthday was last April 25; how did you spend it? (Question from @86123005)

I recorded some songs and I had dinner with my family. We had sushi and then I watched "The Avengers." "The Avengers" was

    • As the popularity of Korean entertainers grow, aren't fans starting to see double or triple the same thing?  Just check out the Korean stars who sport the same names.

And, in this instance, let me present to you the three Lee Min Hos!

Lee Min Ho (SportsKorea)The first Lee Min Ho is of course the much loved Lee Min Ho from Hallyu dramas "Boys over Flowers" and "City Hunter." This Lee Min Ho started his career in 2004 while he was still in high school. However, it was not until he starred as F4's "Gu Jun Pyo" in "Boys over Flowers" that he became a household name. These days, Lee Min Ho enjoys much success due to his intelligent career moves. His next drama project tentatively titled "Faith" will be the actor's first foray in historical drama.

Lee Min Ho (SportsKorea)The second Lee Min Ho had his breakout role in the recently concluded romance drama "The Moon that Embraces the Sun." He actually made his showbiz debuted way before the first Lee Min Ho as we first reported.  Beginning as a child actor, the second Lee Min Ho still is

    • (UPDATE) Korean dramas are never complete without the most-awaited kissing scene. It normally signals a big transition in the romantic lives of the main characters. No matter what genre—action, comedy, sageuk (historical) or romance—the all-important kissing scene is a staple in drama land.

Here's my attempt at classifying the types of kisses that will help us K-drama addicts identify our favorite lip-locking moments.

The Sweet Kiss (SportsKorea)1. The Sweet Kiss

Let's start with the tamest of kissing scenes. The sweet kiss is often depicted as a gentle peck on the lips which lasts less than five seconds. This type of kiss is typical in high school dramas like "Boys over Flowers" and "Mischievous Kiss" because the characters are young. Some examples of sweet kisses include Jun Pyo (played by Lee Min Ho) and Jan Di's (Goo Hye Sun) "swing kiss" in "Boys over Flowers," the playful kisses between Baek Seung Jo (Kim Hyun Joong) and Oh Ha Ni (Jung Su Min) in "Mischievous Kiss" and the lovely kisses between King Lee

    • It was recently announced that popular reality television show "We Got Married" has been officially cancelled due to the labor strike in MBC, one of Korea's top television networks. This sad development led me to reminisce on some of my favorite "We Got Married" couples.

The Lettuce Couple (Publicity photo)The Lettuce Couple

The Mature Bride, Kid Groom couple composed of Hallyu star Kim Hyun Joong and Hwang Bo is for me the best "We Got Married" couple of all time. From their awkward meeting in Jeju Island up to their bittersweet goodbye in the same place, the Lettuce Couple showed the qualities of a great marriage including respect, understanding, fun and support. They got their name because of Kim Hyun Joong's unusual emphasis of the Korean word for "lettuce" ("sangchu").  The pair generated such a loyal fan following, they won the MBC Best Couple award in 2008. Their fans hope that they will end up marrying each other in real life. My favorite episodes? The marathon episode where the couple shared their first kiss

    • U-KISS (Publicity photo)

Korean idol group U-KISS has launched its sixth mini-album, "Doradora." The six-track release contains five vocal tracks and an instrumental version of "Doradora" and is a marked departure from the sound the group created with original producer Brave Brothers.

Under the management of NH Media, U-KISS, which stands for Ubiquitous Korean International idol Super Star, has collaborated with a variety of producers and songwriters for the new album, including Jay Park and Ryan Jhun.

With the release of "Doradora," AJ, Soohyun, Kevin, Hoon, Kiseop, Eli, and Dongho are determined to continue the new musical journey they started with the release of "Neverland," the group's 2011 single taken off their second studio album of the same name. While that single was a remarkable electronica-laced dancefloor anthem, "Doradora" delves into deeper musical territory, combining the group's electronica roots with a bit of dubstep and some of the most hypnotic lyrics in K-Pop.

      Produced by Kim Hyung Seok

    • G-Dragon, Lee Min Ho and Yoo Seung Ho (SportsKorea)Big Bang leader G-Dragon and hot young actors Yoo Seung Ho and Lee Min Ho have something in common.

According to a report by Star News, these three Korean stars all started as child stars in the past. Fans of the three young stars will surely find their past projects interesting to watch.

Lee Min Ho (not to be mistaken with Hallyu star Lee Min Ho) who recently broke out through his role as "Yang Myeong" in the highly successful drama "The Moon that Embraces the Sun," used to be a cute and chubby boy actor in a situational comedy. He is currently part of the highly rated drama "Rooftop Prince" with JYJ's Yoochun.

Meanwhile, the handsome and talented Yoo Seung Ho is considered a national young actor with his varied film and drama projects. Yoo Seung Ho debuted as a young actor in the award-winning movie "The Way Home". Yoo Seung Ho has recently tried to transition his image from young star to male star through his more mature roles in "Blind" and "Operation Proposal".

      Finally, the top
